Canoe and Kayak Hire

Do you like the freedom to do your own thing? Rent canoes and kayaks, Whanganui River, New Zealand. Are you the outdoorsy type who likes to do things yourself? Do you want the freedom to go at your pace? Do you need equipment? Yeti Tours have a large up-to-date (replaced in 2017) fleet of boats available to those wishing to do their own thing. All our equipment is of modern design and chosen for its comfort, stability, and suitability for the task. Tents are also available for hire. Our tents are modern double skinned hoop tents with sewn in floor and insect screen.

Whanganui River Canoe and Kayak Hire Pricing

Each canoe comes complete with paddles, buoyancy vests, and Waterproof storage barrels, maps, ropes and instructions. Each kayak comes complete with paddle, buoyancy vest, spray deck and “Cascade” dry bags, ropes, maps and instructions. For safety reasons, we do not rent to solo paddlers. Price includes transport from Ohakune to Taumarunui, Ohinepane or Whakahoro and then return from Pipiriki (Or Wanganui) to Ohakune. Safe vehicle storage is also included. Transport

Our transport runs on a regular schedule which allows for drop-offs And pickups on the same day if necessary. Our departure time from Ohakune is 7.30am and pick-up time in Pipiriki is 2.00pm.

Extra Info

Yeti Tours are based in Ohakune at the base of Mount Ruapehu. It is a fully equipped ski resort with bars restaurants, cafes and a supermarket. Ohakune makes an ideal place to begin your journey.

DOC campsites or hut fees are not included These can be booked here. Or we can book these on your behalf!. Yeti Tours run an environmentally friendly operation, please remember that while canoeing the Whanganui River, all the campsites are within the Whanganui National Park. Therefore, please carry sufficient rubbish bags with you to ensure that all refuse is removed from these campsites.

Normally you will arrive in Ohakune the day before departure or the morning we depart. Please be there by 6:45 am to allow a reasonable amount of time for loading and pre-departure instruction.
